General Enrolment Information – Year 9 to Year 13
Tauranga Boys’ College has an Enrolment Scheme in place, and election for entry to the school is based on the Ministry of Education enrolment regulations. It enrolls students according to the provisions of Section 11D of the Education Act 1989.
The five prioritized categories for entry are:
Priority One You live in a permanent residence within the school zone
Priority Two You live out of zone but your son has a sibling/s currently enrolled at the college
Priority Three You live out of zone but your son has had a sibling/s at the College in the past
Priority Four You live out of zone but the Tauranga Boys’ College Board of Trustees employs you
Priority Five All other students who live outside the home zone and who wish to attend this College
Parents wishing to enrol their son at Tauranga Boys’ College must complete the enrolment form and submit all supporting documentation. The application must include:
- a copy of a birth certificate or passport
- the most recent school report
- NZQA record of learning for students at year 11, 12 and 13.
- completed option form
- proof of residence in the school zone. This can be either a sale and purchase agreement, a long-term tenancy agreement or a household power, telephone, rates account that clearly shows the acount holders name and address.
A formal interview is an important part of the enrolment process - once Tauranga Boys’ College has recieved the enrolment application a time will be set for the interview.
The enrolment process involves an entrance test for students entering year 9 and the accumulation of academic data suitable for academic streaming of students at all year levels.
Enrolment of Prospective Year 8 Students for 2011
Enrolment for our 2011 year 9 intake begins in July. Schools with pupils within the 'home zone' are supplied with enrolment information. The schools that are supplied with enrolment packs are listed –
- Kaimai School, Matakana Island, Omokoroa Number 1, Omokoroa Point, Oropi School, Pyes Pa School, Rudolf Steiner – Welcome Bay, Te Puna School, Tauranga Intermediate, Tauriko School, Whakamarama School
Applications open Monday 19 July 2010.
Parents wishing to enrol their year 8 son for 2011 should make sure they pick up an enrolment pack from their sons school or by contacting the Tauranga Boys’ College office on (07) 578 4029. Please ensure the enrolment application is returned to Tauranga Boys’ College by the deadline stipulate in the enrolment pack.
Enrolment Process

Please note that enrolment at a contributing school in the Tauranga Boys’ College home zone does not give right of entry into the College; you need to live in the Tauranga Boys’ College home zone to attend.
Out of Zone Applications for 2011 – Year 9 to 13
Parents wishing to enrol their son for 2011 as an out of zone student can pick up an enrolment pack from the Tauranga Boys’ College office or request an enrolment pack by phoning (07) 5784029. All students wishing to apply for out of zone enrolment must attend an interview during the following five enrolment days:
Monday 23 August 2010 9.00am to 3.30pm
Tuesday 24 August 2010 9.00am to 3.30pm
Wednesday 25 August 2010 9.00am to 3.30pm
Thursday 26 August 2010 9.00am to 3.30pm
Friday 27 August 2010 9.00am to 3.30pm
Please phone the school office (phone 07 5784029) to make an apointment. Your son must attend the interview with you. Please bring the completed enrolment form and supporting documents to the interview.
Out of zone applications open Monday 19 July 2010

The ballot date for out of zone applications is Monday 6 September 2010.
Open Evening
An Open Evening will be held on Thursday 5 August 2010, from 6.00pm - 9.30pm in the School Gymnasium. All prospective students and their parents are invited.
Orientation Morning
On Thursday 2 December Year 9 students who have been accepted for 2011 are invited to attend an orientation morning from 9.00am – 12.00pm.
